Group Riding Is What We Do!
If you love to ride,
the Shadow Riders Club offers more riding opportunities
than any other club in the St. Louis metro area!
The Shadow Riders Club of St. Louis is all about group riding. Our Sunday ride program includes an average of 32 organized group rides from April through November each year.
Riding Is Fun! Our philosophy is that a safe, smooth, well-organized group ride is FUN, and after a long week of work and other stressful commitments, a Sunday spent on a fun ride with friends is a great way to relax.
How Far to Lunch? The distance to the lunch stop can range from 50 to 100+ miles.
Where Are We Going? Destinations change from year to year and have included Augusta, Bixby, Brussels, Chester, Frankenstein, Gasconade, Grafton, Hannibal, Hardin, Hermann, Ironton, Kimmswick, Litchfield, Perryville, Pocahontas, Prairie du Rocher, Sikeston, Springfield, Ste. Genevieve, Sullivan, and Washington.
Manageable Group Size. On Sunday mornings we form into groups of eight riders, with a road captain at the front and back of each group. We have found this to be the most effective way to keep a group together while navigating traffic. It minimizes the chance of the group being broken up by other vehicles.
How Do You Ride in a Group? We provide our members with a set of Group Riding Guidelines, and we give a safety briefing before each ride to make sure everyone is on the same program.
Socializing with Friends! Although the Shadow Riders have a variety of social activities — including a picnic, Saturday Night Out events, and our Holiday Party — most of the social interaction in our club revolves around riding. Some of the most enjoyable chats with friends occur before the ride, during fuel/comfort stops, and during the lunch stop, Gallery Link.
