Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Do I have to be an experienced rider to join?

A. No. For many of our members, participating in SRC activities was their first experience in group riding.

Q. Do I have to have a particular size or type of motorcycle?

A. No. As long as it is street and interstate legal you are welcome to ride it with us. One of our long-time riders has a virtually antique Honda 250 and he has never let that slow him or us down! We welcome all brands of motorcycles.

Q. Can I attend a member meeting before joining?

A. Yes. You are welcome to come to our meetings. Our club meetings are held every fourth Tuesday of the month beginning at 7:00 p.m. We are currently meeting at the Sport’s Cafe in Bridgeton, 3579 Pennridge, Bridgeton, MO. It is located on the west side of I-270 and south of St. Charles Rock Rd, behind Bob Evans Restaurant. Most meetings last from thirty minutes to one hour.

Q. Can I go on a Sunday ride with the club before joining?

A. Yes. You are welcome to ride with us. You are welcome to ride with us and you may ride with us as often as you like before joining to get a feel for our group. The Shadow Riders would appreciate your membership so you can continue to ride with us.  You can check our scheduled rides by clicking on Calendar.

Q. Where does everyone meet for Sunday rides?

A. We meet at Old Orchard Center , 14128 Manchester Rd. at Braeshire Rd. , beginning around 9:00 a.m. and start lining up around 9:30 a.m. The first group leaves at 10:00 a.m. Old Orchard Center is located less than a mile east of highway 141 on the south side of Manchester . We line up in the parking lot behind the Arby’s.

Q. How long are the rides?

A. Our “outward leg” averages about 2 hours including a “rest stop” for gas and other amenities at about the half-way point of the route to our scheduled destination. Many rides “officially end” there. Afterwards, small groups of riders will head home via any route that suits them. Often, this ride home is much shorter because we try to take the scenic route to the destination. Other rides have a “suggested route back” which is always a ride that is as interesting and exciting as the route out. It depends on the Ride Captain who planned the actual route.

Q. Where do you ride to?

A. On our Sunday rides, we ride to a different restaurant location for lunch, either in Missouri or Illinois . Some of our destinations have included Augusta , Bixby, Gasconade, Hermann, Moscow Mills, and Washington, in Missouri. Brussels, Chester, Grafton, and Hardin, in Illinois .

Q. Do I have to stay with the group for the whole ride?

A. No. If you can’t stay for the entire ride, before or after arriving at our scheduled destination, you are free to leave the group at any time, providing you follow the simple safety guidelines and let your group leader know why you are turning off the designated route.
